Information Technology is revolutionizing the way we work, communicate and live. New industries such as e-commerce, e-learning, etc., have been spawned by this technology. A key enabler of information technology is the two-decade long revolution in microsystems technology broadly defined as comprising integrated circuits, devices, tools, and microstructures in semiconductor technologies. A broad goal of this center is to promote this physical aspect of information technology through the following mission.
| Mission Statement: |
"The mission of the Illinois Center for Integrated Microsystems (iCIMS) is
to facilitate collaborative research in the design of integrated microsystems, including integrated circuits, devices, systems, and structures, among the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and researchers elsewhere. The Center also has the mission to support the growth of the semiconductor information technology industry within the State of Illinois, the nation and elsewhere."Undergraduate Advising Fair: Presentation
